About the Cover Photographer
Brigette Carruth, the Our Town Cover Photographer, started In Focus Photography in 2003. Her varied work includes corporate head shots, families, and bridal photography. She is an active member of her church, teaching 7th grade Sunday school and playing the flute in the orchestra. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her boys play basketingball.

Dallas's Zack Wheeler
For those of us who enjoy sports, SPRING means the opening of baseball season; a joy for spectators and players alike. Dallas resident, Zack Wheeler, is especially looking forward to baseball season, since he begins spring training in Scottsdale, Arizona with the San Francisco Giants this month.
Zack has lived in Paulding for the past five years, after he and his family moved from Smyrna. Zack is the son of Elaine and Barry Wheeler, and has two older brothers Jacob and Adam. The family is active and baseball has been a part of Zack’s life for as long as he can remember. Though he played different positions throughout his life, he did not begin pitching until his sophomore year in high school.
Zack graduated from East Paulding High School only last year, and is very excited about his future with the Giants. He told us scouts for the major teams begin looking at players during the sophomore year and watch them through their senior year. All the big sports teams come out to “scout” for new talent. When it came time for the draft, Zack was one pick away from the Atlanta Braves. He is really looking forward to getting to know the Giants organization and playing in front of a big crowd.
It’s no question Zack is a talented young man. He is very quick to credit to his family for their love and support, as well as his coaches for their training and help in getting him to this point with a baseball career. Though being part a major baseball team can change a person, for Zack it’s important for him to stay grounded. When he’s not traveling with the team, he plan to reside in Paulding and share a home his brother. Besides baseball, Zack enjoys watching all kinds of sports, playing basketball and hanging with his friends.
Paulding’s local high schools have many talented students and it’s always a joy to meet these kids, and see their success after they graduate. We appreciate Zack Wheeler for being April’s cover man, and we wish him all the best in his career.
