By: Heather Peacon-Corn; Community Services Representative for The City of Hiram

Farmers MarketThe Paulding County Farm Bureau has partnered with The City of Hiram to manage the second year of the Hiram Farmer’s Market with a new name and new location!

This year’s LOCALLY GROWN ONLY market will be located at Ben Hill Strickland Sr. Memorial Park at 372 Oak Street in Hiram. Every Tuesday the market will be open to the public from 3:00pm to 7:00pm in the parking lot next to the tennis courts. The market is now hosting farmers, hobby gardeners, and non-produce vendors offering a wide variety of products. It will now be called The Paulding County Farm Bureau Farmer’s Market – HIRAM.

Some featured items will be tomatoes, blueberries, blackberries, fresh corn, melons, squash, zucchini, strawberries, fresh herbs, peas, okra, cabbage, peppers, eggplants, potatoes, lettuce, beets, cucumbers, beans, etc. Also, fresh eggs, local honey, jams & jellies, pickles, salsas, relishes, dried herbs, fresh cut flowers, live plants and fresh baked artisan breads. Other vendors will be selling boiled peanuts, Hawaiian shaved ice, peanut brittle, fresh muffins, cakes, pies, cold coffee drinks, popcorn and a weekly variety of other hot and cold foods.

The Paulding County Farm Bureau Farmer’s Market – DALLAS is a brand new market with many of the same great LOCAL vendors. The market will be located at the corner of Hwy 92 and Hwy 120 at 2515 Marietta Highway in Dallas. It will open every Friday to the public from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.

The objective of both markets is to showcase the sights, smells and sounds of our community through our local farmers and growers, support the development of the local economy, bring neighbors together and foster good stewardship of our land.

For market updates, please visit the Paulding County Farm Bureau table at each farmers market to sign up for weekly emails that will let you know what produce you can expect on Tuesdays and Fridays as well as any schedule changes. Additionally, a $100.00 gift card will be given away at the end of the market season. One lucky winner will be drawn from the combined email signup at each market in Hiram and Dallas.

Each week families can plan their meals around the fresh produce, meat and eggs, but remember to shop early, because quality local produce doesn’t sit unsold for very long. Most of the produce travels less than 25 miles from farm to table….now that’s fresh!
