5 Essentials to Maximized Living
Dr. Dan Roberts and Dr. Jared Key - Cornerstone Chiropractic
When asked “What is Health” most people will talk about diet, exercise, being pain free, and possibly mental peace of mind. Though these are good indicators of a healthy lifestyle and are components of Health; they are not the definition of Health.
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. (World Health Organization, no. 2, p. 100; entered into force on 7 April 1948.).
This definition can really be boiled down to one statement: Is your body functioning and healing at 100%. If your body is only healing at 99% are you really healthy? 99 out of 100 might not sound too bad; especially if you’re taking a math test; but if you’re fighting heart disease or cancer….every 1 percent is vital to your wellbeing, and to not developing disease.
Health can only come from one place: From within you. Health does not come from your doctor, a surgery, a supplement, pill, lotion, or potion. God created our bodies with an Amazing Healing Power in order to be vibrant, self-healing, and to reach our maximum potential. This power is constantly residing within us and it is the only power that can heal and create health. This is the power that God gave with the breath of life, and this power and potential is always present as long as there is life within us.
Health is all about your body healing and functioning at 100%. This leads us to understanding the 5 essentials of Maximized Living, and when we live by these maxims we truly begin to express and reach our God-given health potential. We must remember that there are 5 essential rules which must be followed to protect our ability to heal; in essence this is faith with works.
Essential #1: Minimize your exposure to toxins: The chemicals we use (medications) and even add to our food can be toxic to our bodies and need to be reduced.
Essential #2: Maximize nerve supply: Our brain and nervous system controls how every
part of our body’s work, function and heal, this communication needs to be maximized and protected.
Essential #3: Maximize the quality of your nutrition: Nutrition is a very large subject. The most basic rule should be: ‘If God didn’t make it – Don’t eat it.’ The more man has messed with (chemically or otherwise) our food, the worse it is for you.
Essential #4: Maximize oxygen and lean muscle: Exercise is not to look good during
bathing suit season. The real purpose of exercise is to drive oxygen to every cell of the body so they can burn clean fuel and help strengthen our hearts and vascular systems.
Essential #5: Maximize Mind - peace and relationships: Stress, time management and the quality of our relationships with God, our families and our friends are the spiritual, mental components of health; and a lack of effort and attention to these will affect every other aspect of health.
