Fourth Annual Cornerstone Community 5K Challenge
For the past four years, Drs. Daniel Roberts and Jared Key of Cornerstone Chiropractic have been hosting the Cornerstone 5K Community Challenge. For Dr. Dan and Dr. Jared, community outreach is not only a vital cornerstone of their practice, but a priority and the mission of their lives. They believe whole heartedly that community service is an honor and NOT a penalty. This 5K run/walk is just one of the many ways they give back to the Paulding community because ALL proceeds benefit the Shepherd’s Rest Ministry and Women’s Shelter.
Shepherd’s Rest is a local Paulding County domestic violence shelter, established in June of 1997 and is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Shepherd’s Rest offers victims a 24 hour crisis line where clients can receive domestic violence counsel, direction and resource referrals. Services include a 24 hour emergency shelter, emergency transportation, food, clothing, resource referrals, in-house activities and Legal Advocacy. Shepherd’s Rest also works to provide domestic violence community awareness, education and training.
The ability to reach out and help others in need is a great reward. People helping their neighbors in need are a true definition of “community”. However, in order to make a real impact on the community, the Doctors want to get people who are not members of their practice on this same mission. This is the purpose of the Community 5K Challenge. The 5K run/walk begins in the Poplar Square Shopping Center at 5886 Wendy Bagwell Parkway in Hiram and continues through the Silver Comet Trail. It is open to all ages and abilities. After the race, there will be refreshments, music and a health fair for the entire family.
Registration is at 7am and the race begins at 8am. The cost to pre-register is $15.00 or $20.00 on the day of the race. This race is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and help those in need. Running or walking a 5K is a 30 minute event, and participating can be life changing and life saving.
